RigaTony’s is offering Free Meals to Healthcare Workers

TODAY’S MEAL – Baked RigaTony with Sausage, served with Antipasto Salad and Bread.

For the next fifteen days, we will be offering free meals to hospital, urgent care, clinic workers and first responders. This offer is available through April 15th with a limit of two meals per worker, two times per week. This meal will change periodically and will be available for immediate pick-up at a designated kiosk by our entryway. Please call ahead 480-899-1111 and let us know you’re coming and bring a health care ID that you can display to us at a safe distance.

Before I go into the details please allow me to digress…. I went to my Doctor’s office last week. I probably need to elaborate on that in light of our current world. I tweaked my back a while ago and it’s been getting worse so they urged me to come in for an office visit. I felt bad about it but I’m glad I went, as it was quite illuminating. The workers at my clinic are well protected with gloves, masks and hand sanitizer at every turn, and I spoke to several of them about the conditions they’re working in. The admitting nurse took my blood pressure (150/80, I know that’s high but give me a break!). When I asked how she was doing she told me that she was volunteering to work in a testing tent next week. Amazing. I’m sure you’ve all been struck with how these workers have been struggling with horrible working conditions; an onslaught of critically sick patients, a shortage of safety supplies for both them and their patients and literally risking their lives every day all the while being mostly unsupported by authorities in the highest positions. So, I came away inspired if not cured. I am struck with the fact that most of these people never intended to go into dangerous careers. They didn’t join the military thinking there was a possibility of being deployed to a battlefield. But here they are – unintended draftees struggling to defend us from calamity. And performing valiantly.

I can’t help them save lives but at least I can offer them a gesture of support. RigaTony’s can do this largely because of you. The last couple of weeks have been much busier than we expected. Busy enough that we think we can afford this gesture – although we literally have no idea how big or costly this will be. It’s a risk, but not near the risk that these warriors take every single day.

Anyway, here’s how this will work. The most important feature of this is that we want to ensure that you (health care workers) and our staff stay safe, so there will be literally no contact closer than 10 feet. We will prepare a specific entrée off of our menu every day for pickup. Just call in – tell us your name and we will have your meal ready for pickup at a food pickup stand with designated parking for you. Just get out of your car, grab your meals off the stand and that’s it! Be prepared to flash your badge to our outside host as you drive by. I’ll post a video showing exactly how this works very soon. I will also provide a link on our website for feedback and especially for requests for various menu items. https://rigatonys.com/healthcare-workers/

In the meantime – we salute you.
